Course Description During the course of this year, students will read a range of texts and practice writing in several different modes (informational, persuasive, narrative, etc.). My curriculum is aligned with the Common Core Language Arts standards, so our goal is to build students' reading, writing, and language skills while also boosting their speaking and listening abilities.
For the eighth grade in particular, my goal is to include more writing practice and higher-level reading selections in order to better prepare students for high school.
Textbooks and Workbooks Grades 6-8 are using Houghton Mifflin Harcourt's Collections textbooks and Close Reader workbooks this year.
